Following the European Union's renewable energy strategy, there has been increasing interest in the creation of renewable energy production capacities such as solar, water, wind and geothermal energy or biomass energy. Renewable energy projects are supported with significant funding by the Hungarian Government as well as by the European Union. CEE-Lawyers LP continuously monitor the changes of the European and Hungarian regulatory environment concerning renewable energy, including in particular the adjustments originating from Hungary's renewable energy action plan for the period 2010-2020.
In accordance with the text of the Electricity Act, anybody can create new production capacities at their own risk in the electricity industry but a number of licences are required for the implementation (establishment and operating licences, building authority and environmental protection authority permits), and in certain cases power stations may only be built under a tender of the Hungarian Energy Office (wind power stations and wind farms).
The legal advice provided by the partners of CEE-Lawyers can be helpful in the procedures before the competent authorities as well as in the legal support of the construction and development projects of power stations. The members of our office can provide practice-oriented and professional legal assistance also during negotiations with banks in connection with the establishment of power stations.
